Sports team owners and stadium/arena managers know they have a problem. No longer kings in the golden age of sports, they are now merely players in the golden age of sports fans who have more choices than ever on game day. So how do these business owners compete with comfortable recliners, well-stocked kitchens, and massive high definition flat screen TVs that put fans in the middle of the action? By actually giving potential ticket-holders good reasons to return to their ballparks for live games. In the sports events industry, this is known as ‘fan engagement’ a term that’s on every team’s mind these days.
This very subject will be the focus of a center-stage major presentation at InfoComm 2017 on June 16 by Miami HEAT Executive Vice President & Chief Revenue Officer John Vidalin and NanoLumens CEO Rick Cope, leaders who know a lot about making sports venues the place to be again. The two worked together on AmericanAirlines Arena’s new high-tech outdoor entertaining space, the XFINITY East Plaza, which helps the Miami HEAT engage fans in new and exciting ways.
According to Vidalin, the presentation will tackle fan engagement in general but also focus specifically on his teams new fan space.
“From the Miami HEAT perspective, this presentation will explore how we embrace and integrate new technology into the AmericanAirlines Arena to drastically improve our fan engagement, as well as lessons that attendees can take and apply to their future projects.”
Cope, who was recently named a Game Changer in Sports Technology by the Technology Association of Georgia, adds “InfoComm attendees interested in learning what fan engagement looks like in today’s digital age should make sure to attend this deep dive into a very exciting and compelling trend that is adding a new dimension to the fan experience.”
